Educational Support - Primary

Nursery Nurse: Also known as a nursery assistant you will help babies and young children to develop in a safe environment. These roles can be physically demanding as you'll feed and change babies and play games with young children to aid their learning. You'll need creative flair and excellent organisational skills, as well as a Level 3 qualification in childcare.

Teaching Assistant: You will work under the direct instruction of teacher/support staff, usually in a classroom with the teacher, to support access to learning for pupils and provide general support to the teacher in the management of pupils and the classroom.

Educational Support - Secondary

Teaching Assistant/ Learning Support Assistant / HLTA: You'll support pupils across a range of abilities and undertake duties that free up a teacher's time, such as preparing the classroom, setting up and clearing away activities, helping students with their reading, assisting in the planning of lessons and managing classroom behaviour. To gain an entry-level position you'll need GCSE grades A to C in maths and English and experience of working with children.

Learning Mentor: You will complement & support the work of teachers by taking responsibility for agreed learning activities. This involves leading PE planning, preparing and delivering learning activities for individuals/groups & whole classes (PPA cover) and monitoring pupils and assessing, recording and reporting on pupils’ achievement, progress and developmentTo support vulnerable pupils in groups and 1:1 during English & Maths sessions.

Careers Guidance: As a careers adviser, your job is to help people make decisions about their future. You’ll also help research the education, training and career opportunities they need to achieve their goal. Careers advisers often work in schools or universities, or for local authorities. You should be a great listener, with strong research, communication and interpersonal skills.
