Chris McCall

Chris started teaching history in 2000 after gaining a BA Hons in International History and Politics. During his teaching career so far Chris has been an examiner, teacher training facilitator, personal tutor and has written material for revision books and websites. 

Chris had leadership roles in 3 different schools in Wakefield, Doncaster and Teesside prior to joining the Trust in September 2011. Chris became Principal at De Lacy Academy in 2017, making rapid improvements and lifting the academy to be one of the top performing schools in the Wakefield area based on pupil progress. 

In 2019, Chris took on the role of Associate Executive Principal to support Principals within the Trust to improve their academies by sharing his expertise in raising achievement, staff development and student motivation to support. 

Chris is a trained NPQ facilitator and sits on the Wakefield permanent exclusion independent review panel. 

An average day for Chris involves him spending the day watching students make progress. It starts from the moment the students arrive on the 'blue line.' As a Principal, Chris is lucky enough to be in and out of lessons celebrating success. A typical day for Chris is rewarding, exciting, exhausting, exhilarating and exactly what he wanted from his career. 

Chris enjoys spending time with his wonderful family and crazy dog. He is an avid reader, enjoys travel and is currently embarking on a quest to make allotment owning cool again (if people still say cool). Regardless of whether they do, he have some amazing winter squash, celeriac and Jerusalem artichokes!

When asked 'Why Delta?' Chris says:

Delta is passionate and forthright about tackling educational poverty. This isn’t merely a strap line, it is what drives everything our teams do. I can think of little more rewarding than watching young people, many of whom started their educational journeys with significant deficits, learn first to value education and through that themselves and their communities.
