Chris Parkinson

Chris joined Delta when his school, East Garforth Primary School, converted to the trust in 2013 and he has been lucky enough to work in a number of roles supporting schools across Delta.

Prior to becoming a teacher Chris worked as a Product Marketing Manager for a European Electronics distributor. During his time with the company he also held a series of different sales and marketing roles which gave me the opportunity to work across the UK and in Europe. At University he studied Journalism and has also worked as a youth football coach.

Chris's main area of specialism is Maths. For a number of years he has worked as part of the NCETM Maths Hub and has really enjoyed using this experience to help develop the teaching and learning of maths within Delta schools.

Chris thinks there really is no such things as an average day as a Head teacher! Every day presents a different challenge and this is the part of the job he enjoys the most. He particularly values the time he spends in the classrooms, working with the superb teachers and pupils and seeing the amazing things that are happening every day. There really is nothing more rewarding than seeing, first hand, the work that our staff and children are doing on a daily basis and seeing the impact this has for our young people.

Outside of work he is, and always has been, a keen footballer and follows his home town team of Scunthorpe United. He also enjoys spending time with his family, often cycling and walking and he loves to travel – although he does not like flying!

When asked 'Why Delta?' Chris says that Delta stands out for him because of the emphasis that it places on its people. There is a clear, shared vision across all of our schools and this sense of purpose helps to drive everything we do as a trust. The sense unity means that every single pupil, staff member and parent is truly valued and given the opportunity and support they need to reach their potential.

Working in a close collaboration with such skilled, innovative and inspirational practitioners makes the job exciting and incredibly rewarding.
