Helen Acton

Helen trained to teach at Christ Church College, Canterbury …probably the furthest teacher training college she could get away from her home-town of Doncaster without going abroad!

Helen's first teaching post was in Lincolnshire working at the seaside in a primary school in Chapel-St-Leonards. The school was amazing - known locally for the arts curriculum because most days started with observational drawing.

Moving back to her roots in Doncaster in 1989, she next taught at four different schools in and around the Doncaster area. She also tried her hand at working for the Teaching Support Service - where qualified teachers taught SEN children peripatetically for 1-1 interventions.

Eventually Helen settled to class-teaching in Early Years, becoming deputy head at Hatfield Travis C of E Infant School in 2004, then Principal at Hatfield Woodhouse Primary in 2009 - loving the interaction with Key Stage 2 children again.

Hatfield joined Delta as a converter academy in 2012 (although it was Schools Partnership Trust in those days!) and has gone from strength to strength ever since, whilst still remaining the family-friendly village primary school many of our parents can remember from when they were here.
