Helen Prout

Helen joined the Trust as an NQT at The Parks Academy in Hull in 2013.

Helen moved into middle leadership and experienced a range of roles across a number of years: Behaviour and Safety lead, Maths lead, Reading lead and Writing lead amongst others. In 2017, she moved to Assistant Principal at Willow Green Academy in Ferrybridge then in 2018, joined the England Lane Academy team as Assistant Principal, before being appointed to her current post as Head of Academy in 2019.

Helen has a first class honours degree in BA Honours Primary Education with QTS with her specialism being 'Language, Communication and Literacy.' She also successfully completed the NCETM Primary Mastery Specialists Programme.

The transition from the classroom to Head of Academy has allowed Helen to shift her focus from helping 30 children to developing her staff, which in turn means impact for 187 children. Each day is different and filled with a wealth of experience. Helen's favourite part of the day is greeting parents, carers and children at the door first thing in the morning. Following this, her days can be filled with a range of tasks, from researching best practice (both inside and outside of the trust), coaching and mentoring staff, supporting families or working on her own CPD with the support of her wonderful Executive Principal!

Following Helen's university degree, she spent some time living aboard in a small, part of North West Spain named Ferrol. This experience left her with a deep love of the Spanish language and culture so any opportunity she has, she ensures she has her next adventure abroad lined up!

Helen also enjoys music and spent 2 years singing in a Spanish choir. One of the many benefits of being a Primary practitioner means that music is never far away in her day to day role.

Why Delta?

Since joining Delta 6 years ago, Helen has never looked back. All children, regardless of origin, deserve to be given the chance to succeed in life and Delta Academies Trust champions this. Children are held firmly at the heart of everything we do. Teaching is not a job, it’s a vocation. Helen wants to dedicate her life to helping all children achieve more and Delta empowers her to do just that.

The trust invests in people and this is something I value. Head of Academy (or any new role for that matter) can feel a daunting prospect, yet with the backing of the Delta teams, be that everything from Human Resources, Finance, Executive Leadership to other Heads of Academy, it feels a challenge that I am excited to face.
