Jo Pittard

Jo joined the Trust in 2016 and currently leads our Doncaster Alternative Provision, St Wilfrid's Academy.

Jo qualified as a Teacher of Science and her career has been based in or around the Doncaster area. Jo started at Thorne Grammar School as a Teacher and Assistant Head of Year before moving schools to Dearne High School (Barnsley) where she progressing from Second in Science to Head of Science before joining the Senior Leadership Team as Assistant Principal; Whole School Inclusion where she stayed for 9 years. Jo then moved to St Wilfrid's Academy and took up post as Principal shortly after joining and is currently developing the Alternative Provision across the Trust.

Jo's expertise lay firmly in inclusion: Working with challenging adolescents! Forging positive relationships with the most complex young people, and reengaging them with education.

There's no average day at St Wilfrid's. Being an alternative provision brings its own challenges for Jo but she still endeavours to keep to some sort of routine (however impossible) by getting into classrooms, delivering intervention and mentoring those students who need nurture.

Why Delta?

Developing alternative provision for Delta has been an exciting challenge for the last few years – Working alongside talented colleagues and feeling part of a real team, with a shared ethos that focuses on improving life chances for the most vulnerable children is exactly why I decided to become a teacher, and why I have always chosen to work in schools with high levels of deprivation.

I feel proud to be part of a MAT serving the communities that thoroughly deserve, and hugely benefit, from the work we do.
