Mark Willett

Mark joined the Trust in September 2009 as a Chartered Surveyor. He qualified in 1988 and worked in private practice in the West Midlands before moving into Project Management with a property developer in the mid-1990s leading to a move to Yorkshire.

Formerly a Partner with EC Harris, an international built asset consultancy with an annual turnover of £250m, Mark managed the Hull and Scarborough offices before being promoted to the Board of the North East Business Unit, leading the education sector, and was national sector leader for higher and further education.

Mark holds more titles that you can count on two hands:

Chartered Surveyor, Qualified Project Manager and Arbitrator, BSc(Hons) Quantity Surveying, MSc Construction Project Management, MRICS, ACIArb, MBIFM.

Mark is the Trusts Facilities Director with overall responsibility for Delta’s £500m property estate of 50 academies. He has expertise in procurement, construction and asset and facilities management, winning Hull and Humber Young Businessperson of the Year in 2003.

On an average day, Mark travels to work listening to the Today programme. He catches up on emails before meetings with design teams on construction projects, often at one of our Academies. During his working lunch you can usually find him planning the workload of our supply chain partners, travelling to meet Heads of Academies to map out their needs in property or facilities management terms and then agree implementation programmes. Back in the office or on the road he actions emails received during the day before travelling home listening to The Archers and other podcasts.

Outside of work, Mark loves attending concerts and music festivals (Rock, Heavy Metal, Blues and Country this year). He is an avid guitar player, having played with Tommy Thayer of 'Kiss' at the House of Blues in Las Vegas. When not performing, he likes mountain biking, bell ringing (on Sunday mornings and regularly at weddings) trips to the theatre and spending time with his wife and family.

I am proud to be part of a team who are changing lives and improving the life chances of young people
